Biodegradable is the ability of a product / material such as animal and food waste, and food containers made from starch, cellulose and other organic (and inorganic) biodegradable materials (bioplastics) that can break down and be decomposed by bacteria and microorganisms into carbon dioxide, water and biomass within reasonable time in a natural environment. The benefit of biodegradable products is that they are usually compostable as well, which can contribute to reduce landfill waste for a cleaner and healthier environment!

Composting happens when products that are biodegradable further break down its organic waste by microbial digestion to create biomass. As a result, organic waste through composting are recycled to become fertilizer, releasing valuable nutrients into the soil, which can boost agricultural growth. The product degrades within several months in an industrial composting facility (anaerobic or anaerobic compost) and does not produce toxic residues or microplastics!



Recycling involves the process of converting waste into a reusable material. However, this does not necessarily mean that recycling one material (ie. A used milk carton) can directly lead to a new supply of the same material (a new milk carton), which is often too expensive. Instead, the product is often reused to create another product entirely.

Despite not being the most efficient process, recycling still makes a large-scale impact for our environment. For instance, recycling a steel can from carbonated drinks or canned fruits and vegetables, can save at least “75% of the energy it would take to create steel from raw materials…enough energy to power 18 million homes,” according to Waste Management.



Oxo-degradable products do not completely dissolve into nature. In fact, these products continue to contaminate the environment with broken down plastics, also known as microplastics that can end up in our food chain.

Our range of 100% biodegradable and compostable takeaway containers and carrier bags are an eco-friendly alternative versus the traditional plastic bags, and polystyrene and Styrofoam food boxes. These products are the green packaging choice as they are specifically designed to be sustainable from start to finish.

Our sugarcane-based compostable food packaging uses sugarcane bagasse as a raw material. It is a waste by-product of sugar manufacturing, available in abundance, which makes it a fully sustainable resource. Alternatively, our compostable carrier bags and starch straws are made from a mix-blend of starch, comprised of corn, yam, sweet potato and tapioca (98%-99%) and PLA (up to only 1%-2%). PLA (polylactic acid or polylactide) is derived from renewable biomass, typically from fermented plant starch.

An additional fun fact is that custom branding jobs can also be carried out with the use of natural organic ink made from fruit and vegetable dyes. Upon disposal of these products, it takes an average of 90-180 days (3-6 months) for them to fully complete its degradation and composting, after which it becomes compost that can be used as fertiliser for new plants to grow healthily.

It is definitely a major advancement in environmental technology to be able to make carrier bags from starch blends instead of by-products of petroleum. Starch sources are essentially an annually renewable resource. In comparison, petroleum is a resource that is depleting as a new viable reverse takes millions of years to form. Alternatively, with paper-based packaging, trees are grown and harvested as a raw material in a single season and is not a fast-renewable source as compared to starch-based options.

Due to the mix-blend of starch and bioplastic (PLA) that are made with organic plant materials, they break down swiftly in a compost environment – about the same time as a dry leaf – and offer the most practical and eco-friendly solution as of today.

Our bio-sourced bags can take the same load as their polyethylene counterparts. The product properties were designed in such a way that the products will only begin biodegrading under specific composting conditions.

What is the shelf life of your biodegradable and compostable products?

Our products generally have a shelf life of up to one (1) year (12 months).

Be sure to store it in a cool and dry environment without exposure to direct sunlight!


How long can food or beverage be stored in your biodegradable and compostable products?

  • Sugarcane Food Packaging – Up to 3-4 hours with no signs of leakage
  • Starch Cups – Recommended for Cold Drinks Only
  • Paper Cups – Until you finish your drink!


What is the heat resistance for your biodegradable and compostable products?

  • Sugarcane Food Packaging – From -5ºC (cold) to 140ºC (hot)

Note: Our range of sugarcane food packaging can be microwaved and is oven and freezer safe too!

  • Starch Cutlery – Recommended up to 70ºC
  • Wooden Cutlery – Recommended up to 60ºC
  • Bio Carrier Bags – Recommended up to 50ºC

 What’s the maximum weight can the Bio Carry Bags withstand? Is it more durable than the good ol’ plastic bags?

Our Size L Bio Carrier Bag can carry up to 2.5kg. There is a total of seven (7) sizes ranging from S to 5XL with varying weight limitation according to its respective size.

The durability of the bio carrier bags is not compromised! Each size of the bags has varying micron count (22-35 microns) to indicate the bag’s thickness and strength of material.


Is branding available for your biodegradable and compostable products?

Yes, with compliance to MOQ. A contractual term is also available.
